week 3: a seat at the table

This week came with a lot of real life learning moments. I personally love to excel at everything, so when given a task that consists of a learning curve, I struggle with the reality that I can’t be perfect at everything the first time. No matter how badly I want that!

When it came to creating content videos for social media, turns out that a plan is a must unless your idea of a Friday afternoon consists of frantically showering, blow drying, curling, dressing and styling while racing the sun for good lighting. To say this process was a bit stressful, would be an understatement. Creating content that would be usable for social media took more takes than I’d thought. I had to tape, delete, and repeat often. Overall the process was a great learning tool able to be easily applied to my own professional social media platform!

I was able to attend a company meeting, which sounded intimidating at first. Turns out that working for a smaller company sits well with me. I had a seat at the table and everyone took a moment to discuss their goals, struggles, wins and projects. I feel like this was great experience for me to see what everyone in their different job titles has to handle on a weekly basis. Moving forward I’m excited to see how all these projects develop at each of these meetings. I feel like this also confirmed for myself, that I love the idea of working for a smaller company, as opposed to a large corporation. It feels much more personable humane than being a cog in a machine. Everyone at the table holds an indispensable position at the company and wears many hats. That feels like job security to me!

Overall this week’s internship duties were very real life applicable moments. Including the somewhat disappointing reality that our upcoming photo shoot will be rained out and postponed. Thankfully the timeline for the catalog etc. is far enough out that this will not effect anything at the moment!

Till next week!
